About Us

Surgical Society of Ethiopia was established in 1995 with twelve members. Currently, there are more than 350 registered members who are licensed surgeons practicing in Ethiopia, in different parts and vicinity of the country. We are also a founding member and a bigger contributor to College of Surgeons of East, Central and South Africa (COSECSA) and undertake related activities with this Regional Association. Works are held in here with many partner stakeholders including FMOH, Addis Ababa Administration Health Bureau, pharmaceutical companies, and health-related NGO groups. We also have five regional offices. We are planning to extend to eight or ten institutions as deemed necessary. As we are the firsthand providers of the service and producers of the necessary surgical workforce in the country, we can introduce our vision and mission in all the health institutions and other related institutions. We strive to deliver safe, affordable, and accessible surgical care to Ethiopians.
